Who We Are

In 1873 a group of Christians began meeting at Four Winds, near Newtownbreda, and this was the beginning of our present Congregation.  Numbers grew and it was decided to move to larger premises at Knockbracken in 1954.  Our activities increasingly involved young people from the Carryduff area and in 1990 a new hall was opened at Comber Road / Saintfield Road.

We aim to meet the needs of all ages and have facilities suited to everything from youth work to senior citizens meetings.  We have developed our facilities in line with our focus over the years and as well as a main room for worship and other services, we also have an excellent hall for sports activities, concerts, communal meals.etc

Our main beliefs are outlined below, but in summary we aim to provide spiritual food for Christians through systematic Bible based teaching, as well as a supporting family environment, in which people are valued and respected and an opportunity for those who are not Christians to be made aware of what God says in the Bible in a friendly and open manner.

What We Believe

  • The Bible is divinely inspired and has absolute authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • One God eternally exists in three equally divine person: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • The Lord Jesus is the eternal Son of God, who was born of the virgin Mary and who alone lived a sinless life.
  • The universal sinfulness of human nature makes human beings liable to God's punishment.
  • The death of the Lord Jesus Christ is the sole means of salvation from sin.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ was raised from the dead and is now exalted in glory.
  • The work of the Holy Spirit makes salvation effective to anyone who places faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The Lord Jesus will personally return to take believers to heaven and to judge unbelievers.
